FONT TRIAL

REFLECTION

Experience

The entire typography tasks are challenging to me. Every task takes a long time to come out with basic layout, and keep comparing with other classmates work, and continued to developed my old designs. I keep failed in time management, and always rush for the deadline. Also, I find that the outcome does not come out well as expected, and keep touching the designs during the free time. For the task 1, I was really lost about the typographic system, unsure whether I was doing it right. In contrast, I really enjoyed Task 2, and have a good experience to design collateral and learnt what things to concern for t-shirt printing.

Observation

I find that my overall design is become more minimalistic as compared to last semester. I did not rely to much on the elements, and do not mixed too much graphics into one design. Especially for Task 1, there are less graphic elements for typographic system, and practice myself to utilise only typography to enhance in appealing design. Also, there are improvement of typeface design. The letters are more consistent and simplified design. Last semester, I used too much bumpy edges to the stroke and as a result, the final outcome seems inconsistent and weird. However, I learnt to how to use the grid effectively for the font, and the final result was satisfied for me.

Finding

I learnt how to present my idea more directly and clearer to the audience. When I present my idea for key artwork and font proposal, I need to aware what I want to appeal, the reason of choosing the theme and do not mix too much statement in one design. Also, when I planned about the collaterals, I need to aware the purpose of the items and whether do selected items are related to each other.
