LECTURE

Introduction to Photoshop

To cut the images, there are 3 tools can be used
  1. Lasso Tool : draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document
  2. Pen Tool : creating a path from scratch. The pen tool is the way that you add these points and the way you drag the tool as you create the points determines how they will look.* To create smoother path, draw few points.
Lasso Tool vs Pen tool

The pen tool is a versatile tool in Photoshop that can be used to create extremely precise shapes and paths, using manually placed anchor points.

Although commonly used to make selections, the pen tool was not natively made as a “selection tool”

Layering :different images stacked on top of each other.

The advantage of using Layers is that we can save a Photoshop file with all the layers included. This means we can use layers for non-destructive editing. Any adjustments made in Photoshop will never destroy the original image. The layers contain all the extra information and/ or images that want to add to the original file.

TASK

We have to create 3 composition with the pictures given by Mr Fauzi. During the exercise, we need to use magic wand tool or pen tool to cut out the images that we wanted to use. As similar to the first exercise, we need to use rule of third and focus on the focal point.

These are the 3 composition :

fig 1.1 Composition 1 (19/4/2023)

fig 1.2 Composition 2 (19/4/2023)

fig 1.3 Composition 3 (19/4/2023)

REFLECTION

I was not satisfied with the final outcome of the compositions. I was to excited to use photoshop and add too much elements to one piece. Even though, I remind myself to use basic composition rules, the final pieces look confusing and no focal point.
