Week 1

3 Choices of the major project

1. Commercial Project 
World is seen as increasingly digital :
Utilised the brand in the world ( eg. Nike / Adidas) and choose the product / conceptual of brand / services to do product launch or concept.

2. Find Industry Project and work with them

3. Impact Project ( Social Impact Project )
choose social problem and provide its solution ( refer to taylors impact lab)
* avoid mental health*

Do creative and immersive product launches

TASK

Week 1

This week, I got brief instruction about the major project 1. By the next week, I was tasked to prepare the proposal for the projects that show my animation skills. After the research and brainstorming, I came out with 3 possible ideas, for 2 impact topics and one promotional video.

Week 2

I thought it was good opportunity to work with other specialisation students to do a big project, so I formed into a group to do a product campaign. During the discussion, we came out with the several ideas such as cosmetic, shoes and etc, and we finalised 3 ideas ;

- rebranding kopitiam
- rabit r1 ( AI device ) campaign.
- tealive advertise campaign

Week 3

After the discussion, we decided to choose Rabbit R1 for the campaign, because it is not yet release to the world, and the device is quit uncommon to the people. So, we find that there could be many ways to promote about the Rabbit R1.

We discussed on what to put for the campaign, and what kind of set up will show each of our skill sets.

Based on the my research, I find different AR stuff to introduce the product details, hence, I think doing the AR is ideal to work with UI/UX group members, and show my 3D modelling skills.

We compiled all the ideas and create them into the power point slide for the presentation

Week 4

Didnt have a class due to Japan trip for Intercultural design.

Week 5 - Week 6

Our group has to do further research on Rabbit R1 to find brand identity, problem issues, unique about the device etc. We utilised the Miro board to paste the data, and identify the brand identity. Mainly, rabbit r1 has minimalist design, with bright orange colour.

Week 7

This week I spent the time to draw out the synopsis of the motion graphic. Group members suggested to follow the factory animation that the official rabbit r1 website has, but it was challenging for me to create the motion graphic that contained the advantages of purchasing the rabbit r1 with factory ideas.

This the draft ideas for this week consultation. I roughly draw out how will rabbit r1 activated, and the what kind of actions will the rabbit do when it is doing its job ( eg, running on the wheel to scroll the functions of the rabbit r1)

To fufil the idea of rabbit r1 working in the factory, I research to various motion graphic and found interesting loop video, which the main character visiting various floors of the box, and interact with the objects and people. I was fascinated with this video, and I think it will be interesting to do loop animation as well, hence, I created draft factory on the rabbit r1 device.

Week 8

Based on the feedback, our group decided focus on one function ; "push to talk button " to advertise the rabbit r1. However, it is even more challenging to continue with the factory idea, hence, I started with the storyboard from scratch.

I did research on pinterest, youtube and behance, and found interesting motion graphic video,

I find that building up the stages is quit interesting and fun, and I want to refer to this motion graphic, to create various stages for rabbit r1 and introduce the what the device can do to the audience, such as telling the weather, play user preference music etc.

After I finished with my ideation, I proceed to animatic video for better visualisation.

Week 7

Be more specific with the topic, refer to the apple promotional video, they focus one function for the advertisement.

Week 8
Overall feedback
  • brand identity that connect us, playful quirky
  • solution provided lacking the cohesiveness, poster design have some problems not fun, stiff cooperate like, having trouble to connect.
  • ensure that the product should communicate well of the product identity
  • lack of focus of objective, what people get from from the deliveries', get across the message
  • website, tell wwhat the device can do, get their attention, focus on what the phone can do then only go through the features of it
  • user interested on what they can do with the device
  • what is the objective of the poster, what user can get excited of the poster? factor people and expression to have a connection with the user, show human face
  • poster image need to explain about the context and information in the poster
  • instagram quick attention grab content, too little information, something inviting and interesting,
  • can have quotation, picture of a user, circle claustaphobic, arrow to indicate more.

  • lacking the connection, can be solidify on the playfulness, enchance it, bring it down to layman

  • the functionality, how it suit a normal user

  • motion graphcs, how do you wan to tell the story.
  • what are u trying to inform in motion graphic, get to know what it can,
  • what different exp can user get from using this product,
  • visual narrative that is missing
  • fuctiontion that have emotional connection.
  • make the user want to buy the device
  • overview, how to deliver the concept, set a target reach,
  • if have event how to promote it.
  • propperly justified in what the members to contribute, break down on the task, different point of view, everyone needs to look at the art irection and the motivation
MOTION GRAPHIC

Lack of contribution of narrative. Visual narrative is key thing to consider, maybe add the emotional connection. Also, need to plan the duration of the motion graphic , and how many needed ( such as motion graphic for campaign website).

Overall, it doesnt fit to our design direction, fun style. Need to have clear objective : What difference experience will user get when use this gadget. Make the users to buy the device. More specific target audience 



REFLECTION

This was challenging project for me, as our group has short time to finished up the research, discussion with the ideas and came out with the prototype. Especially during the process of the motion graphic story board, it was really difficult to plan the synopsis that advertise the product and attract the audiences' attention. However, it was meaningful experience work with me because I never work with different specialization students, and having the group discussion helps me to understand each of their skills. Moreover, I never experience advertising the product and planning the event, thus I think it was good opportunity to work with other group mates to try the new area.
