INSTRUCTION

TASK

Task 1 

For task 1, we are tasked to create showreel, resume, namecard, and portfolio website

Namecard

Before I proceed for drafting the name card, I went to research about the name card designs and collected the name card from illustrators who participated in KL Illustration Fair.

Based on the research, I drafted out some of the layouts of the name card. I utilised the logo that created during the Advance Typography, my best illustrations, and tablet pens, to represent me as animator / Illustrator.

However, I find that the back of the name card seems empty, hence, I decided to create my portrait vector art to place next to the name and contact details.

Resume

In resume, we have to add introduction, education, experience, and skills that I have.

I listed down the information that needed, and find that the resume looks empty. Also, I need to list down what kind of works can do through the softwares. Hence, I added the details for "Experience" and "Skills" by writing the projects that I participated and what I have done using the program respectively.

Also. I added the background colours, similar to the name card colour script, as the coral pink and pastel yellow is my representative colours.

Showreel

For the showreel, I focused to show my animation skills and concept art. I listed down the animations to present, and cut the highlight scene to compile into the showreel.

Task 2 - Showcase Preparation

For preparing the showcase, I joined the media team, which handle the social media account for promotional and launching video

Week 2

For this week, we separate our works and come out with the ideas for the selected post. For my side, I explore about the count down post and Behind the scene. As our showcase theme is music/discs and back to the olden days, I refer to the cd players for the count down post while I searched several camera angles and transitions for BTS.

Week 3

Start from this week, we assigned the tasks to work on, and I choose the first three posts of the instagram account, merchandise post and sponsor post.

As the marketing team has to post the introduction post on week 5, I need to work with Veyhan to come out with the designs.

Week 4

After finalising the intro post, I take a job to animated the first and the third post, as well as add the retro music and sound effects.

Week 5

Merchandise post

Me and Jia Yee worked on the merchandise post for this week. I was busy with finalising the intro post, Jia yee started with the draft layout and asked me to try different colour background. Hence, I tried the dark blue background to focus the marches.

I looked at some of the layout, and I picked one layout to make a simple animation to attract the viewers' attention. Fortunately, Jia Yee and other team agreed with the animation.

Also. I was tasked to create the bundle post. I refer the merchandise post, and used the colourful background and cloud elements to decorate the empty space.

Week 6

Pre order Closed

I also given a task to create pre order closed post. I picked the red colour as the text colour, and used the contrast colours like yellow and dark blue. Also, I played with the mascot and clouds to fill up the empty space.

Week 7

This week is the photo shooting day for the individual post. We spent four days to shoot the participants and we take turn to take the photo.

Week 8
 

Fundraising promotional post

Jia Yee requests to work on the promotional post for fundraising event that run by the marketing team. The main items are pouring bear diy kit, and I drafted many drafts and send it to Jia Yee for feedback

Based on the other team feedback, they want me to explore different layout that eye catching. As our main item is fluid diy kit, I created the fluid vectors for the decorations and play the placement.

After several days, the marketing team requests to promote other items that sponsored by the seniors, hence, I need to changed whole layout of the post and add the catalogue for the seniors' merch.

Preorder extended

Previously, we planned to post preorder closed post, but marketing team wants to post the notice on the instagram story and they want the notice of the extension of the pre order period. Hence, I need to discard the previous ideas and draft the new post from scratch. This round, I made the similar designs to fundraising post, in order to give similar mood.

Week 9

Editing the individual post

This week I spent time to edit the individual post. I used magic wand to crop out the people, and edit their skin tone brighter in adobe lightroom. After that, I followed the post guideline prepared by Jia Yee and Kim.

Week 10 

Meet the committee post

Jia Yee request for the intro page of the committee post, and drafted out several designs. I utilised the mascot and the elements prepared by the Design Team.

However, the plan was changed and Jia Yee take the Committee Post, and my ideas are discarded.

Week 12

Sponsor post draft

I did my final job for the media team, which is creating the sponsor post. I drafted out different layout for the sponsor posts, and I focused to create the music related designs and avoid using too many clouds and star elements. I used the CD Jewel case, Mascot and DVD player for the post.

Week 13

Shooting for launching video

Our team went to Lungga's house for the shooting, and we have to create office atmosphere. For my side, I bring the lamp and peg board to decorate as office.

Week 15 - 16

Launching Video Editing

Jia Yee asks for editing the sound effects. I searched in the freesound and pixabay for the sound effects for office atmosphere, time lapse, car atmosphere, footsteps while use youtube sound library for the background music

After collecting the sound, I edited them in the adobe audition to adjust the volume and fade in and fade out.

REFLECTION

The journey of preparing the showcase was really tedious for me. It was hard to balance the other modules and media team work, and have pressure to produce a work everyweek. Especially for this module, I might not able to complete my task without the help from my team mates, and this understand the process of opening the events, the amount of works and the importance of the communication and teamworks.
