TASK

Week 4

As class exercise, we are tasked to create segment matrix based on our project ideas.

Week 5

At first, we have a idea to create house renting app, targeting the students, as we found that there is less platforms for students to use when they are looking for house renting. However, this idea gets rejected, and Mr Hijaz suggest to create the app that help in community. After the discussion, we finalised with the neighbourhood communication app.

During the class, we have a exercise to create user persona, to find out what kind of people would like to use our app.

Task 2 : Exercise 1 - User Persona Research

For this task, we have to create the interview questions to collect the data, and find out what kind of problems they faced in neighbourhood. We decided to go with face to face interview, and each person have to do 2 interviews. For my case, I asked my classmate and my parent, since we need wide range of age group. 

For the questionnaire there are several sections

• INTEREST
• GOALS
• MOTIVATIONS
• CHALLENGES
• PAIN POINTS / FRUSTRATION
• NEEDS / EXPECTATION
• CONTENT PREFERENCE
• TECH & SOCIAL MEDIA PREFERENCE

Our group decided to divide the sections to fill up the questionnaire. and i took up Motivations and Challenges.

After the consultation, I changed some questions and these are the finalised questionnaires for interview

Task 2 : Exercise 2 - UX Requirements

After collecting the interview, we transcript the interviews and summarised. Based on the responses, we concluded with 4 points :

1. Relationships build trust
2. Trust can only go so far
3. Texting generation
4. Different schedules

Based on the collected data, we finalised our project goals and outcome, and what are the selling points and competitors ( mainly whatsapp group chat)

Task 2: Exercise 3 - UX User Journey Diagram

Since we have clearer goals for our app design, we are tasked to create user journey diagram.

We all agreed to have  task helper as a main function to either offer the help or seeking for help. Also, based on the interviews, many interviewees wants forums to write down the sudden questions or communicate with others. Moreover, creating event/ announcement page will be beneficial to support closer bonding with neighbours.   

There are total of 5 journeys, and I took up Journey 2 which is main page.

When I plan the journey, I noted down the main functions, and imagine how users can interact with these functions in main page easily.

REFLECTION

Data collection period was really tedious for me. Start from preparing the questionnaire. I was unsure, what kind of question is relevant to app development, and whether the questions feel rude to interviewees. Also, during the interview session, it was challenging to carry out the talk, and guide the interviewees to share about their experience with neighbours. However, it was interesting to hear about different aspects of neighbourhoods. and understand why we need to prepare proper data collections before we start with our design.
