LECTURES

Week 1
Mr Razif brief about the module and what projects we are going to do in the semester. He recommend to have headphones for sound designing for this module.

Week 2
Fundamentals of sound

Nature of Sound : a vibration of air molecules that stimulates our eardrums
Sound waves : Air molecules vibration and propagation (movement)

- Sound waves exist as a variation of pressure in a medium such as air
- Created by the vibration of an object, which causes the air surrounding it to vibrate
- Vibrating air causes the human eardrum to vibrate, which the brain interprets as sound

 Properties of Sound
  1. Pitch
  2. Loudness
  3. Timbre
  4. Perceived Duration
  5. Envelope
  6. Spatilization

Week 3

dynamic : concert/live use /use dynamic for house
Condenser : studio

Track automation : for film ( specific range) much more relevant (time based work)
Clip automation : ( when move it around the place)
Pick according to the location.

REFLECTION

It is first time that doing sound design, and to my surprise, I can produce different sound and impactful sound sources by adding equalizer, reverb and so on. Before I learnt the software, I didn't know that phone call sound effect can be produced by reducing treble and bass easily. Learning audio design is really interesting because I never touch the area before.
